Physical Therapy and Rehabilition

Rheumatism or rheumatic disorder is a non-specific term for medical problems affecting the joints and connective tissue which causes loss of functioning in the body and lowers the quality of life significantly.

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of our hospital that is equipped with 13 beds and fully functional rehabilitation area has the capacity to treat 120 patients daily. The patients who are staying in different departments of the hospital along with the patients for ambulatory treatment are evaluated by the specialist in Physical medicine and rehabilitaion department and physiotherapists and physical therapy technicians treat our them accordingly.

Our department is equipped with ultrasound, laser, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS),interferential current, electrical stimulation, heat and cold therapies, infrared radiation, fluid therapy, traction, intermittant pneumatic compression and CPM which are all machines and techniques of the latest technology.

In our department we treat:

Painful Rheumatic Diseases; Arthrosis, rheumatoid, fybromiyalgie, neck and back hernia, osteoporosis

Orthopedic Problems; Fractures, dislocations and sprains, joint stiffness, scoliosis, meniscus, hip and knee replacement surgeries, hand surgeries, shoulder disorders and sports injuries

Neurological problems; Stroke, facial paralysis, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson disease, muscle diseases, nerve impingements, peripheral nerve injuries and paralysis, neuropathic pain

Moreover, our specialists focus on the treatment of lymphedema and joint stiffnes after breast surgeries, geriatric rehabilitation and rehabilitation of burns as well.

MIRROR TREATMENT IN PATIENTS WITH STROKE

Every year in the world 15 million people are on stroke. As the cause of death, the chance of survival increased in parallel with the increase in success rates in early treatment of stroke, which ranked 3rd among all diseases, and therefore the number of patients requiring post-stroke rehabilitation increased steadily.

The aim of stroke rehabilitation is to increase muscle strength and coordination, to reduce insufficiency, to increase functional independence of the person, to minimize disability, and to return to family and community life.

For this purpose, it is applied in the long-term rehabilitation programs for individuals specially planned classical exercises, physical therapy applications, massage, acupuncture, visual-sensory biofeedback, orthoses, electrical stimulation, occupational therapy, speech therapy, robotics rehabilitation, virtual reality applications, computer Console games, etc .. There is not yet a consensus on which of these treatments, or which combination of them, is more effective, but there is still a need to develop different methods.

The Mirror Therapy, which has been developed over the last few years in this framework, first attracted attention by annihilating the single phantom pain (ghost pain) which is constantly heard in the cut arm area of a cut-off patient. It is also a form of treatment with very successful results in stroke. In those who are paralyzed, there is a restructuring in your brain. The brain learns that it does not correspond to the signals it sends to him that it is a stroke. To reverse this situation; It is possible to send the motion of the firm side to the brain and give the impression that the patient can make the desired movement with this visual deception, so that the brain can remove the old ones of the patient side. Even though the person does not have the movement yet, even the imagination of the movement of the paralyzed side provides efficiency in getting results.

In MT practice, which is a treatment method focused on the movement of a healthy arm or leg, the paralyzed hand is placed on the back of the mirror, the patient moves his / her stable hand without seeing the paralyzed hand, and it follows the reflection of the same. The image of the healthy hand’s motion creates a visual illusion in the brain, creating a feedback that the paralyzed hand is moving. This aims to increase visual input that helps to heal.

In the studies performed, it was determined that MT leads the opening of joint and improvement on paralyzed side and improves the functional state of the hand which increases independence in one's daily life activities.

DRY NEEDLE TREATMENT

Dry needle therapy (DNT) is a reliable method that resolves painful muscle spasms in our muscles and skeletal system very effectively and extremely quickly.

The causes of many painful events in the musculoskeletal system are painful diseases such as stress, strain, hernia, etc., which are caused by shortened muscles. Muscles that become hardened by spasm cause a serious pain. Pain causes spasm again. Increasingly untreated "spasm and painful vicious circle" locks on the patient, causing loss of flexibility in the movements, painful stiffness. One of the most important and uncomfortable consequences is the development of painful stiffness, called trigger point in the shortened and strained muscles, which is commonly known as gripes.

In general, patients (even some doctors) interpret this as a simple muscle pain and try to pass it for a long time, or seek solutions with muscle relaxants, and the quality of life drops significantly if the problem is not solved. We are very much aware of the complaints that come from these cases that "I tried every hospital, branch, doctor, nobody could fix it".

DNT is a method that reliably removes all these painful conditions quickly and without any side effects. Very fine needles are dipped and removed by the experienced physician, the patient feels pain as much as a mosquito bite during the procedure, pain and spasm terminate within a few minutes, the patient relaxes quickly.

How often and how many sessions does the DNT practice? What is the success rate?

The duration of treatment sessions can vary from one patient to the next. The success rate is 80-95%, sometimes 100%.

PROLOTHERAPHY

Our musculoskeletal system which is responsible for the movements of our body consists of structures like bone, joint, cartilage, ligament, muscle, beam.

All parts of our musculoskeletal system, which serve us for many years without any problems in our young ages, are now degenerated as the parts of a machine age with the aging of the machine, and as a consequence, chronic mechanical rheumatism develops in our necks, in our joints and in our joints with stubborn aches. It is becoming increasingly difficult to make simple daily movements such as sitting - getting up - walking - bending - climbing stairs - taking the upper raft cups, etc .-- that is, FUNCTIONAL LOSSES, and ultimately, SERIOUS DISORDERS INCURRED IN LIFE QUALITY.
